DIY Ornament Series….Week Five

As a child, I loved making homemade Christmas ornaments. To this day, my mom still hangs these old and tattered ornaments on her tree, and I want to pass the same tradition on to my family. These ornaments are perfect for young children (They are even great for practicing fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination). You will probably find that you already have most, or all, of these materials. When making these simple ornaments, encourage your child’s creative imagination to shine!

Here’s what you need:

Christmas Lacing Ornaments:

Construction Paper

Hole Punch

Yarn

Craft Supplies (Crayons, Stickers, Pom Poms, Glue, Etc.)

To begin, draw and cut out a Christmas shape.

Then, punch holes around the edge.

String with yarn and tie a loop at the top.

Decorate!

Christmas Wreath Ornaments:

Pipe Cleaner

Beads

Add beads to a pipe cleaner.

Form the pipe cleaner into a circle and add a pipe cleaner to the top of the circle to create a bow.

These simple and cute ornaments are perfect for young children. Various shapes, sizes, colors, and craft supplies make each ornament unique!
