Personalized School Folder DIY

Personal Folder 1

With school supply lists looming and a few more weeks of summer days to fill up this little DIY is good for kids of any age.  My mom used to help us make one every year while we were growing up and I loved doing this project.  My four year old did too!

The next time you’re at Target or Staples or your school supply destination of choice pick up one of those 39 cent paper two pocket folders.  When you get home and are ready to have the kids create their personalized folder gather up the rest of your supplies.  There’s really no end to what you could use.  Pieces of ribbon, leaves, washi tape, glitter, stickers, magazine cut-outs, newspaper clippings, etc. etc.  Whatever works as a reflection of who the child is that will use this folder….use it on their folder!

Personal Folder 2

I wrote my daughters name in the middle of her folder with a silver Sharpie before she started decorating.  When that’s done though, have them get to town decorating.  Cutting, snipping, gluing, and glittering. As soon as your kids have it the way they want it adhere the contact paper to the front of the folder to preserve the decoration.

Personal Folder 3

There you go–an easy back-to-school craft that your kids will love.  Even the Cinderella folder at Target couldn’t sway my four year old….she’s committed to the one she made herself!
