Tomorrow is Cyber Monday! You didn’t think we’d let that monumental event come and go with no ideas for you did you?
We’ve put together a list of some of our favorite gift ideas to match each of the categories we regularly feature on the website. Some of these are great gift ideas for YOU to ask for and some of these are great gift ideas for you to give to SOMEONE ELSE!
So………..without further ado……….Happy Shopping and Merry Christmas!
In the Kitchen
1. Garlic Zoom…..our resident recipe expert Jen uses this almost everyday!

2. Specialty oils and vinegars from Fustini’s. These vinegars are so good that you could just DRINK them. Our favorite vinegars are Cinnamon Pear 12 Year Traditional Dark, Espresso Bean Balsamic, Grapefruit and Better than Chocolate. These would be a fantastic gift for a teacher too! ($15.95 and up)

3. Spices from Penzeys… the BEST… and lots of gift boxes to choose from if you don’t know what you want. Again–these would be awesome teacher gifts! (4 jar boxes: $11 – $50)

4. One of the most popular cookbooks to come out this year… Plenty, by Yotam Ottolenghi. This book was back-ordered for MONTHS… but is available now and is a MUST HAVE for anyone who loves to mix things up in the kitchen. ($23.10 on Amazon)

5. Coffee lovers are raving about Aerobie’s AeroPress, and for good reason. It makes an amazing cup of coffee that’s flavorful, bold, and smooth. ($29.99)

6. KUHN RIKON Paring Knives: Renae got some of these in her Christmas stocking a few years ago from her mom and loved the adorable bright colors and the surprisingly amazing quality considering the price! The perfect gift for the chefs in your life! ($10.00 for one knife or buy a set of three for $23.95)

7. It makes sense that MadCap Coffee Company was recently featured on the cover of Barista Magazine: Their coffee is amazing! Their commitments to both consumers and farmers translates into fabulous roasts and brews. (Blends are $16 to $22 per bag.)
Make It
1. Kids can become a “published author” with this easy kit from Illustory. They complete up to 18 book pages, send it in, and receive a color copied, professionally type-set book in a few weeks! ($19.95; use coupon code cby252011 for 25% through midnight 11/28))
2. Color your own castle…..Perfect for when you’re snowed in this winter, kids can color and decorate their own castle (playhouses, rockets, and carriages are available, too) and then use it for pretend play long afterward. ($35-$50)
3. Martha Stewart glitter might just be the quintessential supply for both the freshman and seasoned DIY’er. Watching someone unwrap this is like watching them unwrap a bunch of beautiful candies. Maggie, our Be Inspired editor, got her first set as a gift and has been giving back the love ever since. And………now through Wednesday evening you can enter to win your very own set right here at Mom Colored Glasses! Head over to our give-away post to find out how!
Books for Mom
1. The new Flavia de Luce novel from Alan Bradley, I Am Half-Sick of Shadows. This is a must if you want to spend a few days post-holiday-chaos and cuddle up with a delightful, can’t-put-down mystery. If you aren’t familiar with this series try the first, The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie. You’ll be hooked! ($15.64 on Amazon)
2. Everyone wants “real” photographs of their kids these days…..the era of super formal shoots at JC Penney is going by the wayside but we don’t all have hundreds of dollars to pay for an amazing photojournalist photographer. This great book gives you page after page of ideas to photograph your own kids and family and make people think Annie Leibowitz did your pictures. ($19.79 on Amazon)
3. This is a great gift for a book-lover who wants to keep track of all the books she’s read! We have always loved the simple beauty and archival quality of all the moleskine books and this is no exception. In this book journal, the reader simply records the book title, author, rating, date the book was read and any personal thoughts or opinions about each book. ($19.95)

4. Magnetic slip over the page book marks….no explanation needed–just awesome…and a great stocking stuffer! ($8.75 at The Spoon Sisters)
Books for Kids
1. This little book would make a great stocking stuffer or even an adorable little gift for that special someone in your life. It’s tiny, with great little illustrations, and even better writing. Lines like, “I like you because you know when it’s time to stop being silly. Maybe day after tomorrow, maybe never. Oops too late, It’s a quarter past silly,” and, “I like you because you know where I’m ticklish…and you don’t tickle me there except just a little tiny bit sometimes,” make this an endearing display of affection for anyone you love. ($6.95)
2. Flip Flap Farm, an Usborne book by Katie Daynes & Simone Abel: What toddler doesn’t like everything that has to do with farms….and lift-the-flap books? This is probably one of the most amazing lift-the-flap books I have ever seen! In Flip Flap Farm your toddler will learn all about farm machines, egg sorting, shearing sheep and milking cows in a colorful interactive format. Your toddler will also find dozens of flaps (even some flaps-within-flaps!), wheels to turn and even a tiny book at the end with pictures of animals to spot throughout the book. This award-winning book is printed on very high quality paper and will stand up to many many reads. ($11.99)

3. Llama Llama Home with Mama by Anna Dewdney: In Anna Dewdney’s latest book, little Llama Llama is home sick from school and feeling antsy until his Mom needs his help feeling better! My kids love reading about Llama Llama’s adventures, and the little lessons he teaches about love, patience, and the power of kisses and hugs. ($10.79 on Amazon)
4. Rick & Rack and the Great Outdoors by Ethan Long: What kind of mischief can a moose and a raccoon get into in the Great Outdoors? Plenty with dragons, tipped canoes, and the trouble with fishing. ($10.99)
5. What Animals Really Like by Fiona Robinson: It’s a performance for the ages with all the animals singing about what Conductor Beaver thinks they like, until they show their true colors and ruin everything…or do they? A great story of how it is okay to be unique! ($15.95)
6. The Magic Tree House books by - Jen’s kids LOVE these books and are on number 26 right now. The box set of the first four books is the perfect way to dive in. ($15.96)

2. Know someone who just got a new Kindle, IPad, MacBook, or just needs a pretty cool case to keep something fabulous in? Rogue Theory Etsy shop has pages of great covers and cases to pick from that are original and like-no-one-elses. ($40)
3. Instead of giving the special kid in your life an iTunes card, why not “gift” them a special app! Here are a few favorites:
Where’s Waldo? The Fantastic Journey for iPhone, iPad, and iTouch ($1.99) Where’s Waldo? is the surprisingly entertaining search and find adventure. Kids and adults alike get drawn into scouring the animated pictures for Waldo and his friends.
Cinderella for iPhone, iPad, and iTouch (3Gs or newer) ($7.99) This classic story gets a modern remake with the interactivity of an animated storybook. Best part? Seeing the Prince & Cinderella dance to Bollywood music.
Cupcakes! for iPhone, iPad, and iTouch ($.99) An oldie but a goodie…bake, decorate, and eat virtual cupcakes, complete with candles, endless candies, and a fridge to store your creations.
Super Why for iPhone, iPad, and iTouch ($2.99) The Power to Read is within reach with literary games based on the PBS kids show. Games range from identifying letters and letter sounds, writing letters on the screen, and rhyming words!
The Monster at the End of The Book for iPhone and iPad ($3.99) This classic book comes alive for a new generation of readers as Grover tries to block the path with rope, bricks, and his incredible charm. Favorite part? Snapping the ropes with a touch of a finger.
World World for iPhone, iPad, and iTouch ($.99) Pre-readers can drag letters into the outline provided and watch as they morph into their favorite WordFriends! It’s Lisa’s son’s favorite – he is 2 1/2 and learning to read thanks to “Building-A-Word”.
Green Living
1. The Wren Willow Etsy shop sells shirts for you and the little ones made with organic dyes and materials. They’re extra cozy, rock great vintage prints, and are one of a kind. (Price Range: $20 – $35 with Cyber Monday Sale of 25% off with code: Thankful)

4. These “green” socks by Muji are made from re-used yarn and are not re-dyed giving each pair of socks a unique and fun pattern.
